Spring has sprung in Aberdeen and with it a renewed desire to walk its streets. Which makes for the perfect context for the recent recommendation of a strictly take-away coffee spot – because the only time that is acceptable is when the great outdoors is calling with a wonderful aura.

Cafe Twenty One
My enthusiasm waned when I realised the coffee shop is adjacent to the train station (which I thought had been terminated – shows you my ignorance!); past experience never delivered a quality coffee in such context…

A couple of people had approached me recently, excitedly asking: “Have you been to the new place yet?” – which made me instantly share in that excitement… Sadly, it didn’t take long to discover that this one came at the expense of another – the Milk Jug did not make it.
Turquoise Cafe & Eatery
Indeed, the cakes on display were a feast for the eyes: the portions were huge but beautifully executed, each presented on its own glass domed tray – and that’s how they were served to the table, as I soon discovered.

I had been sort of paying attention on my way down from South Mount Street but obviously not well enough – “or he was pulling my leg”, I thought, confirming my suspicion that, surely, there cannot be yet another great coffee shop in Rosemount?!
