Aberdeen Art Gallery
I will leave you to explore and comment on the contents of the gallery at your leisure and focus on the more prosaic aspect of my visit. There are two cafes: one on the ground floor, right by the entrance, and another on the top floor, with access to the terrace opening up to a somewhat obstructed skyline of Aberdeen’s city centre. I think you know which one I went for.
The Tartan Pig coffee house
Our drinks arrived first, and I looked at mine in despair. Judging the book by its cover, I was expecting a weak, pale, milky concoction. I gave it a stir and then I spotted bits of melted chocolate on the bottom of the glass – a reassuring sight.
Cognito on the Corner
I’m yet to visit the Deli across the road from the cafe, or the newest addition situated within the Queen’s Cross Church nearby, but I have already been twice to the stunning bistro/gin bar, Cognito on the Corner.
The Cult of Coffee
I still polished my cup, and within 15min I was on my way again – thinking this was a pleasant discovery, and a good enough reason for me to visit this charming part of town more often.
Café by Benugo at John Lewis
This was the case when I was looking for bits and bobs in John Lewis’ during my lunch break and all of a sudden I felt it was all too much, and a break was required. When I saw the café in the store, I didn’t think twice – I almost ran in.
