Coastal Cuppie

I didn’t let the sight of a wooden shack put me off – we’ve seen worse on this site after all! – but I was a bit concerned when I couldn’t spot a coffee machine inside…

Mozart Concierge (Flowers and Coffee)

When an Instagram reel featuring Mozart popped up on my “For you” feed, I hit “Save” instantly. I then retrieved the video on my next trip to the Capital, but only after I actually spotted someone walking down Piccadilly with a flowery 2-cup holder, which triggered my memory.

Grind Royal Exchange Bar and Cafe

I was still rather hopeful the coffee would save the brand – after all, it has been going strong for over a decade, so my expectations were reasonably high. When I received my cup (again, on the small side, despite the price – but, oh, hello London!) I was not impressed.

Boxcar Coffee & Yard

Once my mocha was finally called, I took an edge seat at one of the large campsite-style tables, occupied by two other couples, to conduct a proper assessment of my drink. It felt light as I picked it up and the froth under the lid seemed to confirm the concoction would be underwhelming. And so it was.

Spider on a Bicycle

All in all – considering the evident artisanship in the produce and use of ingredients such as chocolate flakes over powder – I don’t rate it as a bad experience, and there is tangible passion in the place that makes you leave with a smile on your face. I will certainly be back once normal service resumes.

Bonobo Café

The moment I took the lid off, I knew.

The surface of the drink – even though (beautifully) dusted with chocolate – looked silky smooth and shiny. I actually got excited for what was about to come next.
