Thyme Out

I had seen this place countless times on my way back from work or a walk in this area of Aberdeen; it never dazzled with flashy clientelle or snazzy branding, but its tenure suggested there was enough there to keep it afloat through the tough times, so I thought it worth a shot.

Resting Brunch Face

When my mocha arrived, it was clear these guys weren’t just brunch obsessed – the skilful latte art attested to coffee credentials. I noted, however, that despite the crisp rosette shape, the milk top looked a bit fluffy, rather than a silky surface indicating a smooth texture.

Mount Cafe

My coffee arrived some 5min later and it was a joy to behold. Based on my experience so far I was all but certain it would be perfect – and it did not disappoint.

Milk Jug

The menu was pure breakfast and brunch with hearty and healthier options, finished off with a confidence-inducing drink selection (all the staples with a few brunchy extras)…

The Monocle Café

The coffee was served not long after, and beautifully presented. I loved the attention to detail: from the wooden serving tray to the little branded chocolate served on the side. But of course, it was all about the mocha, which I could tell just by looking at it that it would be a joy to sip on.
